Tine Isachsen
Oslo/1969
Tine Isachsen (°1969) is an artist from Oslo, Norway. Isachsen works in a variety of mediums and formats, including drawing, watercolour, photography and film. She studied at Central Saint Martins, London and The National Academy of The Arts in Oslo.
With a strong focus on faces and the human body Isachsen`s defining attribute is the emphasis on expression and emotion. Her work is influenced by her background in drawing and printmaking and has a distinctive and expressive style, seducing the viewer into a dreamlike world where unsettling beauty emerges. She is magnetically drawn to images that are slightly odd or hide a certain darkness. Like images or facial expressions where it appears that something has just happened or is about to happen. Isachsen tries to create works in which the actual event still has to take place or just has ended: moments evocative of atmosphere and suspense that are not part of a narrative thread. Her works appear as dreamlike images in which fiction and reality meet.
”Line drawing is my big love. It is so honest and raw, and really shows who you are. You can’t hide behind a lens or fancy techniques. Trends come and go, and I really love to try new things, but in all my work there is always a strong element of drawing”
Tine Isachsen has gained attention through her Instagram account and has been exhibited and screened in Norway and Internationally.
